Started on October 7th, 2020, The Walking Dead Deluxe is a celebration of the comics that started the global zombie empire. The original series began on October 3, 2003 and recently ended its epic run with The Walking Dead # 193. TWD Deluxe is published for the first time as a separate color edition. It is not collected in the off-the-shelf paperback, which means fans need to collect every issue as it comes out. From November on The Walking Dead Deluxe will publish two issues each month. Kirkman says the comic will also feature key backmatter goodies that detail the process behind the creation of each issue.

Kirkman says the Adams covers are combining and adding new characters. He joked that he needed a bigger wall to show the planned fifty-cover series. Although it takes a long time the Walking Dead The TV series ends after Season 11 ends in 2022, Kirkman tried to ease fans’ anxiety. In the middle of the panel, he said that the show and its beloved characters “aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.” He talked about his excitement at seeing what else characters Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) have to offer, a nod to Skybound’s recently announced fourth place Living Dead TV series with Reedus and McBride. The unnamed spin-off is slated to appear on AMC sometime in 2023.
On Thursday the first teaser trailer for the Amazon Prime animation series Invincible was published. The hour-long adult drama is based on the Kirkman comic about 17-year-old superhero Mark Grayson and the rest of the superhero team known as the Guardians of the Globe. The animated series examines what happens when Mark Grayson finds out that his father and most powerful superhero on the planet, Omni-Man, may not be as heroic as he seems. About the show, Shawn Kirkham says, “The cast on the show is one of the best voices I’ve ever seen on a show.”
The Invincible Cast includes many Living Dead Alumni as well as Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson, JK Simmons as Omni-Man and Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson. Star Trek: The Next Generation Actor Michael Dorn will play the favorite character Battle Beast. The series will premiere on Prime Video in 2021.
The panel turned back to the comics and talked about Kirkman’s latest series Firepower with the artist Chris Samnee (Daredevil). The Skybound / Image series has been heating up comic book stores since OGN launched in July. Firepower follows Owen Johnson, a Sino-American man who goes to China to learn more about his birth parents. In the end, Johnson discovers the ancient power of throwing fireballs at a Shaolin temple. The Martial Arts Driven Fantasy is only featured in Issue 4, but Kirkman says he and Samnee are working together in Issue 14 right now. Kirkham and Kirkman covered several other new media projects Skybound will be pursuing over the coming year. This includes the translation of the supernatural thriller comic Petrol by Sean Mackiewicz and Niko Walker in a narrative podcast for Audible with full recordings in Spanish and English. Several other narrative podcasts were also announced as part of Skybound’s partnership with Audible in August. Skybound is also packing their first comic book Kickstarter. Ava’s demon.
