The Dublin-based band has released a series depicting epochs of their musical journey with The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, All That You Can’t Leave Behind, and Songs Of Experience.
The € 5.40 booklet contains two N stamps for standard mail in the island of Ireland and two W stamps for postage around the world.
Bassist Adam Clayton said, “In a year of so many limitations, it’s fun to believe that we can travel anywhere in the world from our homes in Ireland with the kind permission of An Post.”
With the band’s support, the Postal Service worked with U2’s creative director Gavin Friday and graphic designer Shaughn McGrath to come up with four concepts.
Every postage stamp has a different shape and a different range of printing surfaces to capture its development over four decades.
Garrett Bridgeman, Head of Post Mails and Parcels, said: “For lifelong U2 fans and admirers of Irish design, it is a great pleasure to announce these very special stamps that celebrate the remarkable global impact of U2 since its inception in 1976. ”
