WASHINGTON — US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking has underlined the importance of swift progress in the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement on his return to Washington after a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia and Oman.

In a press statement on Friday, the US Department of State said that during the trip Lenderking met with top Saudi and Yemeni officials. He also had a meeting with UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council.

According to the statement, the US envoy discussed the latest efforts to achieve a comprehensive, nationwide ceasefire, including the urgency of de-escalating the fighting in Marib, and reiterated the importance of the free flow of goods, especially fuel, through Hodeidah port and throughout Yemen, during his visit.

Lenderking also discussed with the Omanis their recent visit to Sana’a and reiterated US appreciation for the efforts of Oman in encouraging peace efforts in Yemen, the statement added.
