Today, Thursday, the Tunisian Ennahda movement expressed its denunciation of Tunisian President Kais Saied’s continued “solidarity of power”, after his decision to appoint Najla Boden as prime minister, warning that this step without “adherence to constitutional procedures” would lead to deepening economic and social crises in the country.
In a statement issued about a day after its meeting yesterday, Ennahda said, “The Ennahda movement denounces the President of the Republic’s continuation of monopolizing power, working hard outside the constitution, striking at its supremacy, perpetuating absolute autonomy, and deafening the voices of prudence.”
She added, “After the Ennahda movement has registered full appreciation and respect for Tunisian women and saluted their struggles for freedom and equality, it warns that assigning a female prime minister without being bound by constitutional procedures and on the basis of an unconstitutional presidential order and with nominal powers, this deepens the economic and social crises in the country and does not help solve it”.
