A military court in Misurata issued a death sentence in absentia against the commander-in-chief of the “Libyan National Army” Khalifa Haftar.

And Libyan media circulated a document issued today, Thursday, by the Military Prosecutor’s Office in Misurata, which states that the permanent military court in the city has issued a death sentence in absentia against Haftar and six other high-ranking officers in the “National Army.”

The media indicated that the case in which this ruling was issued concerns the bombing of the Air Defense College by the “National Army” forces in Misurata.

The ruling stipulates that the defendants are permanently deprived of their civil rights and expelled from military service, adding that this ruling must be implemented immediately.

For his part, an official military source in the General Command of the “Libyan National Army”, in an exclusive statement to RT, described this ruling as “comical and issued by an illegal court affiliated with the “Brotherhood” in the stronghold of the “Brotherhood” group Misurata,” stressing that this The verdict “is not worth the ink with which it was written.”

The source insisted that the military prosecutor residing in Tripoli does not represent the Libyan army, and that the legitimate public prosecutor is Major General Faraj Al-Sawa.

This ruling comes after the Supreme National Elections Committee in Libya approved the preliminary list of candidates for the current presidential elections to be held in the country in late December, and it includes Haftar’s name.

Following the publication of this list, the Libyan Military Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant against Haftar.
