- Yasmine El Tohamy - Zamalek have narrowly beaten Al Masry 1-0 in the first Egyptian Premier League game since the tournament’s suspension five months ago.

Not long after Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh took a powerful half volley which was brilliantly saved by Massoud and Mostafa Mohamed Mohamed’s failed to convert the follow up.

Then in the 35th minute Mohamed Abdelshafy produced a precise cross inside the penalty area but Mostafa Mohamed’s header went off target from close range.

Massoud produced yet another impressive save in the 70th minute, when Mostafa Mohamed took a powerful header as he was left alone inside the penalty box.

Both teams went on to have a number of opportunities throughout the remainder of the encounter but none of them really troubled the goalkeepers.

Zamalek now jump to second place, 15 points behind league leaders Al Ahly who will face ENPPI on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium.
