Mohamed Salah

- Yasmine El Tohamy - Former Egypt international goalkeeper, Ahmed Shobeir, has claimed Mohamed Salah would want to participate in the upcoming 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Egypt qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo last year after their U-23 AFCON triumph in 2019.

However, due to COVID-19 pandemic the games were pushed to 2021.

Each participating nation has the right to call-up three senior players to their squad and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was understandably among the favorites to join the youngsters.

Shobeir seems to believe that the 28-year-old would be willing to take part in his second Olympic games.

“From my point of view, Salah is the one who will seek to participate with the Olympic team in the Tokyo Olympics and not the other way around,” he told OnSport FM.

“Salah’s team is struggling in the Premier League and now sit sixth. His chances of participating in the European Champions League are also very slim,” he added.

The former Egypt international goalkeeper also praised the Egyptian FA’s decision to not allow teams to register foreign goalkeepers.

“We must congratulate them after their decision to not allow foreign goalkeepers and respond to the voice of reason,” he continued.

Shobeir then ended his statements by discussing Al Ahly and Zamalek’s upcoming CAF Champions League games and the issues that occurred prior to the encounters.

Mosimane

“Things are going well and Mosimane is used to meeting with a player from the team after each session, because he is good on the psychological level,” he explained

“The Simba match is difficult and a large crowd will attend the game.

Al Ahly

“It’s a fatal administrative mistake that the Zamalek [Rouka traveling with an expired passport] administrator should be questioned about.

“But the plane crisis, the board can’t be blamed for it. It did its best by contracting a private plane. We thank Algeria for hosting the team until the crisis was resolved,” he concluded.
