Amman – The national under-14 football team won the West Asian Championship in its first edition yesterday, by defeating the Lebanese team (A) with a goal without a response, in the meeting that was held at “Fouad Shehab” stadium in the Lebanese city of Jounieh.
The captain of the women’s team, Hala Murar, scored the only goal of the national team at the 62nd minute of the match, to win her team the title of the tournament in which 4 teams participated over the course of a week.
The President of the Lebanese Football Association, Hashem Haidar, handed the championship title to the player Murar, in the presence of the Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Al-Hadid. The players and the technical and administrative staff also handed the gold medals, the silver medals for the Lebanese team (A), and the bronze medals for the Palestinian team, which ranked third.
Marar won the award for the best player in the tournament, after she performed outstandingly in all the team’s matches in the tournament, and shared the tournament’s top scorer award with her colleague Jana Maatouk and the Palestinian team player Les Khoury, with 3 goals each.
At the beginning of the match, the coach of the national team, Manar Freij, pushed a lineup consisting of Celine Adel in the goalkeeper, Lilia Al-Sahili, Lama Al-Hasanat, Raghad Al-Nuaimi, Zina Al-Daoud, Rama Al-Khachouk, Malak Khadraoui and Hala Murar.
The promising team launched its offensive raids on the Lebanese team, through bitter moves in the front, and the shots of the khachouk that did not know the way to the goal, while the goalkeeper for the Lebanese team was present in most of the balls.
The preference tended to a large percentage in the first half of the national team, but the steadfastness of the Lebanese defense prevented the team from advancing in the result, so that the first half ended in a draw without goals.
The national team continued to control the ball at the beginning of the second half, by intensifying the attacks on Lebanon’s goal, while Freej resorted to the bench to continue putting pressure on the Lebanese team’s goal.
Murar got a free kick eight minutes before the end of the original time of the meeting, to ensure that she was sent strong to the Lebanese net, at a time when the Lebanese goalkeeper did not move.
The Lebanese team tried to adjust the cuff in the last minutes of the match, to no avail, amid the attempts of the national team players to enhance the result, ending the match with a victory with a single goal.
The National Team for Promising lost its first match in the group stage against the Lebanese team (A) with a clean goal, before scoring a victory over the Palestinian team by three goals to one, and surpassing the Lebanese team (B) by three clean goals.
