Ok i have
Play the new Avengers content released today that included some “story” bits in the form of a short cutscene with Maria Hill as you enter the new SHIELD base Substation Zero, which is live today along with new Tachyon Rift missions went.

Me: Gonna go say hi to Maria Hill in Avengers' new SHIELD base so I can write an article no one will read
There are kind of weird “time storms” and with these missions we collect data about them. What the purpose of this is and whether this leads to Kate Bishop / Hawkeye I don’t know, but I hope so.
Substation Zero is an impressively built new zone, although I’m a little confused about why it exists. It has the same providers as the Helicarrier and doesn’t seem to offer anything new so far, except maybe an Easter egg or two. So it’s not entirely clear to me why Maria Hill couldn’t come to our original base instead. Maybe it will serve a bigger purpose in the future, but right now it’s just … a nice looking place, I suppose.
The “meat” of this update are the Tachyon Rift missions, which I can imagine will be controversial. They are essentially “reskins” of existing missions. One that I played today of two available was a rerun of a Black Widow chain mission that I did a month ago.
Here are three modifiers in the game that make these missions much more difficult than traditional missions:
– All enemies have elite team style overshields which make them much more tanker until you break them.
– You are constantly losing health, which means you will have to use your combat skills, takedowns, or glasses of willpower to get healthy again while playing, but it is not The strong. Strangely enough, the ongoing damage effect kept triggering the Jarvis barrier on my Thor, which made it immune to virtually anytime.
– After all, the mission is on a timer. Small circles appear around the map that add 5 to 20 seconds to the clock. If it goes to zero, you fail. In practice, this means that you will likely have to leave fights to fly around the map and collect them quite often. On the map with other players I found that this was my job all the time as Thor, an aviator, as my teammates didn’t seem to care about the timer at all.
Ultimately, the reward for these missions is access to Cosmic Gear, a new type of elemental damage that causes enemies to take more damage and heal you once activated. I don’t have enough cosmic gear to know how good this element is, but it does Sounds Good. It seems that only the reward for the end of the mission rewards it, and I got two pieces for two missions. These missions also appear to have replaced the priority missions for the week, which seems like an extremely bad call.
The second mission, the widow, was much more difficult and the game didn’t let me use my AI team, just a match-made roster (which ended up with an AI in the last slot). I made it 80% clear because my teammates died a couple of times and only ended the run with a Cosmic Epic that wasn’t very good. I’ve heard of some people getting exotics but not that lucky for me.
While cosmic gear seems like a good addition to the game, I’m less sure how the community A) will view the missions as new modifiers to old missions. B) enemies are annoying and cumbersome to fight with these shields and C) the mission on a timer. Actually, the degeneration in my health didn’t bother me, because it makes you play creatively, but juggles it and the timer and Those crazy enemies were more annoying than funny. If you’re looking for a big new reason to get back into Avengers, although this could be a “varied” addition to the mission plan, I don’t think that much will be added in the end.
I want to get more cosmic gear and I know there is Tachyon Rift specific gear out there that could make these missions a little tastier, but right now I’m not … super impressed with them. I’d rather run the beehives that are guaranteed to give me exotics after yesterday’s patch, but I think I’ll try some other cracks when the war table adds more later.
