The UAE issued an advisory to Emiratis living in or travelling to the UK after an Omani student was stabbed and killed in London on Friday.
The UAE Embassy in the UK tweeted a warning from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation urging its citizens to take care, “especially at night”, after a spate of violent knife attacks in the city.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation warns UAE citizens residing in or traveling to London of a recent increase in violence and knife crime, including a number of attacks on citizens of Arab Gulf states,” the tweet read.
The Ministry advised Emiratis to avoid “wearing valuable items" that attract attention in crowded places.
They should speak to the Embassy regarding any specific security concerns, it added.
Mohammed Al Araimi, 20, was stabbed to death while walking home with a friend in London’s affluent Knightsbridge district.
The two suspects attempted to rob the duo before before stabbing Al Araimi.
The young student was treated by paramedics on the scene but was pronounced dead just after midnight. His friend, who was injured, was later released from hospital.
