The mortal remains of the two Indian students killed in a car accident on Christmas morning will be repatriated back home to India on Thursday night and Friday morning respectively.
Following embalming procedures at the Sonapur Embalming Centre at 4 pm, the remains of students Rohit Krishnakumar (19) and Sharat Kumar (21) will be flown home to India for completion of final rites as per Indian Hindu customs.
"Sharat's remains will be flown to the family home in Thiruvananthapuram at 9.40pm (Thursday), and Rohit's parents will be flying out with his remains Friday at 2.40am to Kochi International Airport," an Indian social worker Naseer Vatanappally told Al Khaleej Today.
The boys had returned their respective universities in the UK and the US for the winter holidays. The driver, Sharat, is said to have been suffering from jet lag. He is suspected of having hit the accelerator instead of the break of his Mercedes sedan. The car rammed into a tree and both students were killed on the spot.
